In the past little while a few of our Classmates have not been able to post a comment on another Classmates Profile.

For example, "Happy Birthday" or "Just keeping in touch, how are you"

They are getting very frustrated because up until recently they have not had any problems. I thought it might be due to not logging in, but that is not the case.

These classmates have become quite anxious, so I am hoping for speedy replies with solutions.

Did that person they wanted to post a comment on allow comments?

He is very popular and received lots of Comments.
However, some others also are experiencing the same problem.

One of the classmates says he can now send "Private" messages -- I think he just recently discovered that--but he still is unable to post as a "Profile Comment"

Really hope someone--perhaps Support--can step in here and help, and soon.

Check all the people who had posted a comment in his profile over the last month or two. And make sure all of them allow comments in their own profiles.

We had a problem a while back where it appeared when someone who had turned comments off in his own profile posted a comment in someone else's profile, and nobody else could post in that profile after that..

I think that is the problem.
One of this classmates friends has been a bit befuddled of late, even with simply logging onto the site.
She had posted on his site and, apparently, unchecked her "Allow" box afterward.

I am awaiting his response to my suggestion that he try again.

That's a bug which was reported back in September of 2021 {HERE}. But I don't remember seeing a response saying it had been fixed.

Anyone has the option to block people from posting comments in his or her own profile, but doing that should not affect people posting in any other profile where that person has posted a comment.
