Confusion over 'new' members

I've posted something on here today that seems to have disappeared. In it I said that a new member had joined via the Class Connection/Facebook App but that I hadn't received notification that he had so was unable to verify his membership.

Apologies if you did receive the original post but removed it for some reason but the mystery has cleared.

When I looked at my Notice Board page (what Class Connection calls 'What's New)it appeared to show a new member had joined but what it actually said was -

Anthony G R West joined Sloane Grammar School Hortensia Road Chelsea London England 1919-1970 Old Cheyneans and Friends via Class Connection Facebook app.

I immediately assumed he was a new website member when in fact he's been with us over a month. So he hasn't actually 'joined' my website again but for some reason the message is saying, to all intents and purposes, that he has.

Can you please explain what is actually happening?

Did this person just join the app? If so it's working properly. It's just the notice that the person joined the app.

As you might see from a posting I made elsewhere today, I worked that out eventually but to me it looked like he'd just joined my site. The wording doesn't help as he hadn't just joined my website but had merely used the Class Connection App.

I'm having untold, headache-inducing problems concerning use of the Facebook/Class Connection App and can't get it to look much like the website as it does without using the Class Connection App.

The latest problem is that some of my website add-ons don't function on Facebook - e.g. the time clocks on the Home Page don't appear on the CC/FB App. Also, different fonts I've used on my Home Page don't appear on the CC/FB version.

We'll take a look at why your third party plugins are not functioning. I need specific examples in order to look at any font differences.

Brad,

Many thanks for sorting the text colour problem with the modules. Looks good.

The font problem seems to have righted itself now. I'm wondering if it was just a case of them loading exceptionally slowly so it appeared that they weren't there at all.

It now only remains for the third party plug-ins to be sorted and I'll be a happy bunny. Well, reasonably so. I wouldn't like you to think I was a soft touch. Laughing

"Widgets" (those clocks) have to be https to display - one of the things that affect ALL widgets driven by Flash or javascript on FBCC (Class Connection).

Sometimes a site also has an https version so all one has to do is change http to https. Either it works or it doesn't when changed Idea
