Hey Kyle,

Thanks for looking up the forum thread to the link sort topic. We have used the "manual move the code method" several times. When it is ready, we look forward using the "Link Sort Module" feature.

However, we realize that your team is busy creating other new features. It's not magic. It's hard work. We appreiciate your hard work and eargerly await all new and good things!

Thanks again,

Dear Brad,

Under the edit site pages, we can change the order of the modules on the home page.

On the Edit Site Pages window, would it be possible to have a similar feature that would allow us to change the order of our site pages?

Thanks for your continued hard work,

RE: Colored topics

I'm not really opposed to a color, but the problem there is we can't pick a random color. If we do it will clash wish somebody's site and they'll complain (trust me). Thus the only color option available is site primary color, which I think in many cases would actually make the # less noticable than having it be solid black. Honestly I just don't think it's going to do the trick.

You've traiened people successfully already as you've indicated so we know that's working. I'd simply add this information to your automated Welcome email. That way you're not constantly having to hunt down new users to train them how to use your site. This topic and anything else you want your new users to know should be included in your Welcome email. I really think doing that is going to be far more effective than changing the color from black to primary or bold.

Been there and done that. The problem is we get someone new and it starts all over again. I have most of the class of 1973 understanding now but I have been working with the class of 1975 getting started and the same problems are starting to happen. That is why I thought if it was bolder they would notice it more and it might click. It's hard to teach old dogs new tricks. So if you could change it that would be great it's worth a try. Lord knows I have tried everything else lol

RE: Colored topics

We could make them bold or colored, but honestly if you're having an issue with people not understanding you have 3 distinct forums I don't think bolding or coloring the topic number is going to universally make it clear to everyone. What I'd recommend instead is sending out a class-wide email explaining that under your Grizzly Chatter link you've got 3 distinct forums, and that clicking directly on the name of the forum will take you into that specific forum. Sometimes good old fashioned specific instructions are just what the doctor ordered. I think this is likely the only way you're going to have this issue be universally understood by everyone.

It's a good question, unfortunately I don't know the legalities regarding this, and it's possible it may even vary by state. You can always run it past an Attorney. This is very rare but it has come up several times before, so just a personal opinion, although I understand your desire to preserve the accurate history of all parties attending the school, I'd just remove the name and be done with it. Most likely you'll never hear the end of it until you've zapped the name. Unfortuante I know, but people may have all kinds of reasons for not wanting to be on the site, and they may or may not even be at liberty to share those reasons with you. When push comes to shove I'd honor the removal request.

We have a classmate who is demanding that we remove his name and photo from our site.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

The matter he attended our schools is a matter of public record and his photo was published in an annual.

Just wondering how this has been handled by other people. We are trying to keep an accurate history of our school. We have 109 years worth of graduates on our various sites.

Hi Krista,

You're close but it actually says those initial test deposits can take up to 5 business days. Based on your bank and location it in fact often does take the full 5 business days. Thus if you did the setup on Thursday, you are now on business day 3 today. Thus it's possible you won't see your test deposits until this Thursday, which is business day #5.

RE: Key words for classmates database

Out of town but will take a better look at keywords when I return. There's going to have to be an advanced feature set experienced Admins can turn on selectively, this will probably be one of them. That way we don't cloud the interface for newer Admins and/or those who don't need the feature at all. Allows you to do what you want while keeping the interface simple and usable by others.

Regarding groups, many Admins have created password protected user forums for groups very successfully. It's a nice way for groups to chat privately, trade photos, share videos, transfer files etc.

Yes, I'd like to have about 5 extra fields for tracking different things on alumni. They could be named just 1-5 or anything we can use for whatever we want. I want most of those to be visible only to the admins, or only to that one classmate.

In addition to honors & positions like you've named, I want to know which people have paid to join our alumni association, when their membership will expire and their association member number.

Another one I use is "Status" which I code for NoMail, NoEmail, NoCalls, EmailOnly, Spouse, Lost, OutofCountry, NoInterest, NoContact, Survivor, etc.

I have to maintain a separate database (Excel) to keep track of these things. The fun part is merging them to keep them both updated--have tricks for that, too. Would be great if I could just download the classmates list and it all be there.

Key words for classmates database

I'd like to have a keywords field in a dedicated field. For example "varsity wrestling" "cheerleader" "national merit scholar" "yearbook" "national honor society" "math club" etc.

A new feature would then allow me to select specific records for display (by me and maybe by classmates) and email (only me) those 'found' records based on the search.

Attendance at a reunion always depends a great deal on who else will be there that the classmate knows.

I believe this kind of feature would allow me to reconnect small groups of classmates for special online events such as a chat for varsity baseball players or all jocks, or math club members.

I could use the same feature to put together classmates who attended a specific elementary or middle school or college.

I could email those who attended a specific elementary school when a story is posted about that school in our Classmates Forums.

I see this keywords field as part of the profile -- and similar to the admin only window.

I think entering the keywords is going to have to be an admin function to be certain that the words are consistent i.e. Cheer, cheerleader, cheer leading

Anybody else out there think this would be useful to their class website?:?:
