Hello,
Several of our classmates who say they are logged in, have complained they are getting this error message when attempting to post on the message forum. When they click on the "post message" button, a page pops up that says:"Sorry you must be logged in to post a comment". When clicking on the "log in (blue letters),it takes them to a page to log in. But after entering email and passcode, it goes right back to the Error page:"Sorry you must be logged in to post a comment". Some classmates have tried this procedure several times with no sucess and have given up trying because it takes them in an endless circle. Others say they are not going to our RHS site anymore because of the confusion. See 3 screen shots.

Thank you!

PS I attempted to attach 3 screen shots but only one screenshot was posted. In addition I have tried to make the font size smaller on this message but it reverts to the large font for some reason?

Well now, it’s been over two days since posting this log in problem. I’ve had over 50 looks but “zero” replies. Is the CC crew on vacation or possibly flummoxed by the log in situation described above?

It's kinda strange, but I think you'll fix the problem by restricting the page - which forces them to log in to see it.

The way it works is that someone who is not logged in and goes to the unrestricted Message Forum page and then tries to post will get the Not Logged In error screen. They can then log in, but (this is the kinda strange part) it takes them back to the error screen - which is where they were before they logged in. At that point, they could actually go to the message forum and post.

Hi John,
Thanks for getting back me!

I spoke with another classmate who said that when he left the web site and shut down his computer he did not log out. The next day when going to the web site the Message forum displayed. Another strange thing... When trying to post the vicious cycle of "you must be logged on to post" put him on a merry-go-round. He went to Home page and found he was "logged on" but could not post. When he logged out and logged back on, he could post on Message forum. Unfortuenately, most of us are getting at the age where classmates with few technical skills need a system which simple to navigate.

I went to Edit Site pages, and ciicked the box "Restrict to Classmates only". Is this correct? I hope this cures the "circle of confusion" experienced by some classmates. Thanks Again!

Yep. That's perfect.
While it may have been handy for your classmates (and search engines and everyone out there on the internet) to be able to read the Message Forum, that opens a potential security problem if people post personal data like phone numbers, email addresses, or other info that might be handy for someone pursuing a career in identity theft. Marking that page as Restricted solves that problem, and also resolves any confusion for people who want to post on the Message Forum.

As I suspect you've tested, clicking on the Message Forum will ask you to log in (if you haven't already) - and then take you to the Message Forum where you can then post if you want to.

Yes, it works exactly like you said. I will send a notification to classmates regarding this "security change".
