Now I've noticed that on several sites their Percentage of Classmates has a "color" instead of the gray.

Sorry Kathy, we only allowed our preferred customers to have color in their pie charts, thus you're out of luck here. Ok I'm kiddin' ya, but unfortunately you really are out of luck. The pie chart takes on your school's primary color. In your case that color is black. Thus you see black in your pie chart. You're seeing other school's pie charts with color, because you'll notice the chart's color matches the color of the rest of their design (i.e. that's their school's primary color).
