Currently our class domain name is www.leeclassof1968.check m. I have been asked by our root administrator to find out if we can use the domain name that he has been paying for. I am not sure whom this name is the provider. The one he pays for is slightly different. I’m lease tell me first if this is even possible, and secondly what are the ramifications for letting our classmates know the change in name. Please advise and I will pass along the details. Thank you.

Hi Pam,

You've had the same domain name for the site since 2008 when the site was started so it is the only name your classmates would typically know for the site. Although you can technically use a different domain name it might be a bit confusing after all that time. If you do switch over you would want to send an email to registered classmates to let them know the new name in case they have the original one bookmarked.

You will also want to update any external links you may have for the site like links at the school website if they link to your site for reunion details.

We would need to coordinate with you regarding your secure certificate as well. It is tied to your domain name would need to have it reissued if a new domain name is added.
