Hi, Is there a way for a vistor to join the site without having to contact the administrator to add the person to the classmates profile?

No. If there was, anybody could join. Not to mention we couldn't automatically maintain your list of Missing Classmates, among other things. Most people enter names in advance from a yearbook or class list provided by the high school.
