I have a couple of classmates complaining about junk mail and seem to think that the birthday notices are in that group. Can this be an option under "Notify Me" if a classmate wants to notified? JIM

Yes. This is a Notify Me option. Additionally, they may be subscribed to everyone, rather than just those people for whom they really want to know about. Tweaking their subscriptions and the Notify Me settings will help.
