I added a new announcement this AM titled Pledge of Allegiance about a U.S. soldier in captivity in Vietnam using a bamboo needle sewing the American flag.

Anyway the message I got was about Tim Tebow, why the Patroits owner took him " an athlete who believes in his spiritually is very appealing to me. Who knows what could happen?" We feature Tim Tebow on the website but this article was also added on today on the home page content, viewable to the public and therefore no need to log in, it was not on the announcement section. So my question is,was it not clicked right ? The new added article on Tim Tebow was not on the announcement section but on the home page content area.
Will there be another announcement message to correct this? I'm not sure what to do. I think I checked the right announcement box to notify _ Catherinians etc..

There are 2 notify me options that would trigger an email for the homepage. One is "A new announcement has been posted" and the other is "Pages on the site have been added or updated". In this case, I would think that your notification was sent to you based on the option of "Pages on the site have been added or updated". However, it woulds like you are saying that you also added an announcement called Pledge of Allegiance, but did not get an email notification. Is that correct?

Scott, you are right - 2 announcements,I posted one on the home page and the other on the announcement section; and what triggered the email notification was the home page content, but what I was hoping to notify was what was on the announcement. It seems there's too many notification choices, which could really be counted as one, like what happened in my case. I try not to send more than one notification at a time, so I do not wish to send another one. Thanks for the clarification.

You are looking at the content that you added to the Homepage as being an "announcement." This is really homepage content. So a notice would be sent out for the update to that page. In addition, the actual Announcements area was updated thus generating an announcement notification. I this the main issue here is that we offer both "immediately" and "once daily" as notification options. I believe that the once daily option sends out one notice that is a summary of all updates, where as the immediately option really forces the system to generate a notice based on the newest saved information. I am not sure how we can streamline this scenario.

If the once daily option sends out one notice that is a summary of all updates,then I'm changing mine to all daily options except for one. If I'm looking at this right, when a new member joins the site, it also means a new announcement has been posted , because we post new member announcement on the announcement area. So the daily option will prevent 2 notifications ? On the same vein, when a name is added to In Memory and then a comment is added to In Memory,the "immediately" option will trigger 2 notifications but if I checked daily option, only one notification will be generated?

Yes. In theory that is correct.

I posted a new announcement today [12-14-22] at 08:56 AM, and as I type this, it is 3:04PM.

I have not gotten the notification of -

'A new announcement has been posted',

nor has my 'dummy/test site member', or about half a dozen site members that I phoned about this.
