Left screen area and top menu - how to change colors?

Hi there, Would someone be able to instruct me how to change the background color of the left hand side menu and the top menu? I'm using the Advanced Theme and uploaded my own header graphic. Currently, the background colour is black and the font colour is white. Thanks for your help,

Changing navigation background color for the Advanced Designs is not currently an option in the system.
