Facebook feed from a Facebook GROUP?

Is it possible to put a facebook feed on my class creator page if my class's facebook page is actually a Facebook GROUP? My class has a FB page so adding the code worked fine -- but I was wondering if the same thing can be done for a FB group? And, if yes, what are the steps to get the code and make it happen?
thanks!

Actually, I figured this out on my own. The bottom-line is 'no' -- you can't create a Facebook feed onto your Class Creator reunion site if you have a Facebook "Group", it only works with Facebook "Pages".

The feed feature is called a "Fan Box" or more recently, a "Like Box". Links to info on how to make them can be found here: http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/262

and here: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Like_Box

So, my advice would be to anyone out there, if you want to have a Facebook feed on your Class Creator reunion website, but sure you set up a Facebook "Page" and not a "Group". For an example of a Facebook Fan Box, see the homepage of the my reunion website (Ames High 1980)

Very helpful Linda. Thanks for posting the followup. I'm sure many others will have this same question in the future.

Thanks for the tip! I've been able to do this with Facebook GROUP pages by taking the number portion of the URL that follows "gid=" such as http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=392139679765.

I pasted that number into the Facebook Page ID(?) box at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box.

Width 395 fits a profile style page that has questions on the left; 500 fills a Custom or Survey page. You can use 12 and 16 "Connections" (individual photos) respectively.

Uncheck the "Show stream" box or your get a lot of dead white space.

See that FB page above and then how it looks on our site, at the bottom of the page:

I also found a lot of little FB groups related to our school that I put onto a Survey page (standing in for a Custom page):

Mary, we've got a Group page, it appears that there isn't a 'Like' function. I tried the steps above, pasting in the URL of the page into Facebook's form, but it kept saying it didn't recognize the URL. Any ideas?Rolling Eyes

Actually, I have a very developed Facebook group which is wide open to Facebook users (actually you all can join it yourselves---don't! But we have some spouses, siblings, etc.). I have a link on my home page and it works but you must be logged into Facebook. I should probably address that in my monthly email so people understand that. Most of those registered on this site are already in the FB group anyway because they are interested in social networking to begin with.

Since the group is so developed, I don't want to move to a page. As I said, feel free to check it out from my Home Page. Like alot of other things, it's a choice.
