We have a generous classmate Donor who paid for the site, and assigned the task of set-up to his son (an IT skilled person but not a class member) who was named as root administrator. Two site administrators are ready to take over the site and the role of root administrator. If we do not change the root, we worry that members requesting to join the site and all material posted by members will flow through a disinterested (non-classmate) root with attendant delays and loss of motivation by people signing up, or sending material to the site. How do we change the root administrator over to one of the site administrators?

Changing the Root Admin must be done by the current Root Admin. They would visit the PREFERENCES page (only visible to the Root Admin) and select someone else from the drop-down box. Then save the changes. That person would then become the new Root Admin.

You can only have one Root Admin. The Root Admin can assign other classmates (or guests) to become admins.
