I have about 1,000 Teacher names to upload. Here is what I have
FIRST   MIDDLE   LAST   Year worked   Subject
Lucille      Chappell    1925-1928   
Samuel K   K   Faust    1925-1930   Principal

How should I deal with the "years worked" and "Subject"?

Under Manage Teachers > Upload Teachers > Download Template, use this provided template and you will be able to upload all of the teachers at once. Be sure to not change any of the column names and not add any additional column names to the template.

That is my point. I have two fields that I cannot use. I realy need to have the year there or with a 1,000 Teachers it will become jumbled mess.

I would recommend combining that information with the last name. For example
Samuel K Faust (1925-1930 Principal)

That is what I thought you would say but I was hoping for another way because I am not too good at Excel.

So if anyone knows Excel out there I would appreciate some help.
I need to join three columns of text and I need to have a space inbetween the text. I will then need to delete those three columns. I did manage to manage to use the function "CONCATENATE" to join the text but when I delete the columns I lose the data.
Thanks for any help.

After you've concatenated the three columns, select that column with the combined data, copy the data in that column and while the column is still selected, choose "Paste Special" and choose "Values".

That will replace the formulas that reference the other columns with the actual text that shows in the column. You can then delete those other columns.

Save your file.

P.S. While you are concatenating columns, you can include spaces and parentheses in the formula string.

i.e. =concatenate(B3+" ("+C3+") ") would place the text from B3, then a leading space, the left parens, the data from C3, a close paren and a trailing space.

John,
I got the space to work in the string. When I try to do paste special and select value it changes all the lines into the same as the first line. I have 1,000 lines that I have to do. Is there another command for doing all the lines?

Sounds like you are choosing the first cell and copying that.

You need to select the entire column (all rows in that one column.)

Right-click on that highlighted column, choose Paste Special, then from the next pop-up choose Paste Values.

Every time I use Excel I am amazed how complicated it is. I guess I used to use Lotus and it always seemed a lot easier.
