My playlist - compiled at Playlist.com - will not automatically play at my website anymore. Instead, the player embedded on my webpages will open up a new (this never happened before) message: "Playback is now only available at Playlist.com. http://pl.st/p/20940889099 Go there now"

Is there an available workaround? (I sure hope I do not have to re-create my play list all over again.)

Please help....

Thanks,
Stan

I just saw the same thing. Don't know what's going on but the Playlist site won't open either.

Same here on several playlists on our website. I hope it is temporary.

I noticed it too. I just deactivated the page until we can figure out what the problem is. The music is cool but it doesn't keep people coming back to the site. It's like frosting on the cake; but we all LIKE frosting!

Same here...I was able to access my lists on the link they provided. Just enter your user name and password and click log-in. The music sounds great, lots of changes, etc and there is NO SHARE BUTTON! This is quite disconcerting...I understand it is a "perk", but to some, Music is Life! It makes everything better!
Also unable to even "find www.flashwidgetz.com" for the best option!
Although we have been quite spoiled for a long time, I am hopeful for a resolution or answer of some sort! Hope someone out there has some insight!
Thanks in advance! Have a great day anyway!

I've not used Playlist, but have upchucky.org on our homepage. If you scroll down there is a "boombox" with our high school years beneath. Click on a year and the jukebox plays top hits from that year.

Playlist still won't load for me when I click on the provided link. Same result when I try to go to Playlist.com directly.

Did you click on the "go there now" button? It appears on Safari. Haven't tried firefox yet...It would have been nice to get a warning of some sort from Playlist.com. The playlists are still intact, for the most part. More "deletions", haven't investigated too much, but there is no way to share anything on another site and the "what's new" doesn't address that at all, at least as far as I can decipher! Perhaps we all need to "complain" via their "email option"! It can't hurt, can it?! But first, we've gotta get ya on the site...will keep trying to figure this out! Have you tried Safari?
Try these links for access...very frustrating, ohwell...!
playlist.com/login

playlist.com/supportcenter

p.s. Mixpod.com works. Thanks for the reminder. In a more perfect world, www.flashwidgetz.com allowed combining both playlist and mixpod.com for "double-your-listening-pleasure"! Maybe it will return in the near future!
I can hope anyway!
Have FUN anyway!

Yes I clicked on the "go there now" button. Won't load. Same result after I logged in using the login URL you provided.

F C,

Yes, I clicked on the "Go There" button and, after signing in on Playlist.com, I was able to hear music. But I don't consider this to be a workable solution.....I'm not as interested in hearing the music on my Playlist personally as I am for my fellow classmates who view the website .....and undoubtedly most of them have not joined Playlist.com. Before this came about, the music would start to play automatically just by virtue of someone opening up the website's homepage. I'm hoping to find a solution that restores that condition.

Try clicking on the playlist.com/login in the above post. Place your cursor in the username box and click. It should appear blank. Then enter your username in that box and enter your password. It should take you to your playlist(s).
It is not a solution for our needs either. Hopefully it will be resolved. Bit in the event of Plan B, or thereafter,www.mixpod.com
works fairly well. Its a pain to start over, but at least it's a nice option to have. We are fortunate. Many counties do not have any such options.
Sorry I do not have happier news! still hoping for a minor miracle or two!

I understand perfectly what your issue is. When I was unable to open the site when clicking the "go there" button I thought that there just might be a problem with the site that would be resolved after the week end and that all would be well. However, since my initial response, even though I still can't several people including yourself, have been able to access Playlist and one individual has found (see this thread: http://forums.classcreator.com/messages.cfm?threadid=B43FF9C2-1422-725F-3C06B449ECCBF3ECool that the current state of affairs is to be a permanent situation. That is embedding will no longer work. So it would seem that Playlist is no longer an option for you, me and probably many others.

Seems we went through something very similar a few months ago with Playlist. One would think if they were going to make the major changes this appears to be, there would have been notifications and perhaps a suggestion of alternatives, such as a paid subscription, etc.

I have my fingers crossed that this is just a temporary site failure!

I got music back onto my site, using Mixpod.com. It's not as user friendly as Project Playlist or has as many songs. But, I found several "oldies" that was on my original playlist..
It's at the bottom of the home page, if you want to look at it.

The "new" Playlist is up at the same URL and I was able to log in. Lists are still there. You need to work between the "old" site link and the new one.

I found this in their HELP section.

Q: Will the new site allow and embed-code to share playlist on blogs and/or websites since the old-site codes are now useless? And, will you be adding privacy features so that we don't have to share our personal info with the world?

A: Starting June 1st, music playback on the embedded (off-site) music widgets may be restricted. It's a tough decision we had to make and we apologize for any inconvenience.

You can of course still listen to your free music playlists on our website at Playlist.com.

Sooo...it looks like we are all "restricted".Sad At least we can still see the old lists in case we can't remember what songs we had in them if trying to use a new site.Laughing

Think the Playlist site has crashed this morning. Was able to get into it early this a.m. but needed to re-check a couple of my lists and couldn't get back in; rebooted and tried 3 or 4 more times with no luck. Can imagine when the word got out every CC site with Playlist is trying to get to their lists.

Playlist.com is on Facebook. I have registered my feelings on their wall. Others might want to do so as well? Evil or Very Mad (LOL...that's the first time I've had the opportunity to use that un-smiley!)

I would have to say to everyone that this whole Playlist.com problem has actually turned out to be a good thing for my website.....in this regard: I decided that the path of least resistance and quickest resolution was to abandon Playlist.com altogether in favor of Mixpod.com. I didn't want to lose the custom song list that I painstakingly developed on Playlist.com but I couldn't determine any easy way to print it out, so I - somewhat laboriously - used the "PrintScreen" button on my keyboard to paste each page from the Playlist.com site to a Word document and then saved and printed out the Word document. Then I registered on Mixpod.com (for free), and began re-developing my playlist at this site. What I discovered pleased me very much: my songs are from 1969-1971 era (when I was in high school). Mixpod searches will call up these songs mostly with LIVE recordings thereof - by the original artists - complete with VIDEO performances. I prefer to have my playlist comprised of live recordings! Anyway, after placing the first 10 songs that were on my original Playlist.com list on my new Mixpod.com playlist, I decided to place them on my ClassCreator website to make sure there wouldn't be any problem in doing so. Well, there was no problem at all - and (as I wanted) my music starts automatically, and my website users can click on a little triangle on the music player if they wish - and the video performance will pop up for their viewing. Moreover (I don't know this for sure), my Mixpod.com playlist may not have a 200 song limit like Playlist.com imposed. I am still in the process of adding to my Mixpod.com playlist as I write this....but I haven't had any difficulty finding the songs I want to add. So this issue has been resolved for me.....thank you for the Mixpod.com recommendation as an alternative to Playlist.com - I really like it. Smile

Before coming here in these wee hours, I did the same as Stan. My first thought... copy that playlist - easily. I'd be lost without PrintScreen, Stan! I do not have that many songs in either of my three playlists. Can't say the same for the alum who added over 200 on our alumni site. Yikes.

I may wait to go to Mixpod until later this week. The Sandman is calling. Wink

I didn't do quite so well as Stan did with Mixpod. First, I'm running into a lot of hits that report the video has been pulled by the owner. With diligent searching, I was able to find workarounds for most of the songs I wanted, but it appears it is going to be a big task to find and replace the many songs and individual players I had on my site. I'm with Stan on this. I do like the availability of the video.

My biggest problem though is that once I find a video and save it to my Mixpod playlist, I have found it will not open automatically on my site. I see this is an option in my Mixpod profile set-up and it works just fine while I'm listening on the Mixpod site, but after pasting the code to my website the video appears and can only be played by clicking on the arrow. It will not start automatically. Stan, did you change some part of the code to get yours to play automatically?

I'm not clear on your sentence, Stan...."my music starts automatically, and my website users can click on a little triangle on the music player if they wish - and the video performance will pop up for their viewing". Did you find a way to post and play the music without the video playing at the same time? If you did, I'm guessing this may be my problem, as I have only found a way to post with the full youtube video playing along with the music on my site. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Ruth, to get the player to autoplay, look for settings under your finished player. Click on that, a box will open on the left side of your screen, there you can click on autoplay or random play, whatever you want... On the player, classmates can click on the video picture and watch the singer or singers perform the song..

Ruth, I forgot to say, after you have made the play choices you want, you have to get the code again and post it to your site.. I had to delete my player a couple of times, before I got it the way I wanted.. I don't think Mixpod is as user friendly as Project Playlist.. I'm keeping my playlists on Playlist, just in case, they reverse their decision. I'm sure they have gotten plenty of negative feedback on the matter.. As far as I'm concerned the website is useless now. Why would I just want to go to Playlist.com and listen to the songs, if I can't share them...!

Thank you Lynda! That's the one I missed! I went into the code and minimized the player size and we're almost as good as new. One problem you all might want to be aware of: I use classical music in my "In Memory" section. I learned that I have to play these songs all the way through, as some come with audience applause at the end.

I'm in total agreement with you about playlist.com Lynda! ...and totally amazed that their response to my complaint to them was to say they are sorry for any "inconvenience". Umm..well, I hope they don't mind the "inconvenience" of losing a major part of their customer base. I might have even forgiven them had they at least given us an explanation and a notice that this change was coming. Very poor business practices!

Ruth,
Lynda's input (above) pretty much says it all for me. And I think her idea to save your original playlist on Playlist.com is a good one - I don't see any downside to it (I, too, have kept mine up on Playlist.com just in case I might want it at some point in the future.) .....Although I've sometimes run into the same obstacle that you have on Mixpod.com as to certain songs ("music has been pulled by owner"), I can almost always find an alternative song version that works for me, and Playlist.com had the same problem, i.e., many of its searches pull up songs with versions that were "restricted." .....I totally agree with your recommendation to play each song TO THE END before adding it to your playlist - just to make sure that it doesn't contain anything undesirable on it. .....I'm glad you're back in business re your playlists!

Does this mixpod stop playing after you leave the home page?

Is there a way to keep it playing while you are on other links?

Yes, mixpod stops playing after someone leaves the home page on my website. But this was also true of playlist.com. I believe this is a ClassCreator platform limitation, i.e., not a mixpod limitation.
