I'm confused about something. I routinely receive emails notifying me that I have a message on my class website. But then when I log on, it says "You are logged in as a different classmate than the recipient of this message". Then why do I need to be notified that I have a message when it is not for me and I can't see it anyway? Any thoughts?

Hi again Betsy,

Do you share the same e-mail with your husband or with someone else on the ClassCreator.com system? (I checked and your Guest Member has your e-mail address).

Maybe you are getting e-mails from somebody sending an e-mail to Guest member. If you want to read those e-mails, you probably need to login to the Guest Member to read them.

Kyle is correct. If you're getting email notifications for a different account, it's because your email address is in fact on that other account too. If it's not supposed to be you need to remove it. If it is, then you need to log into the other account to read the email.

This is what the emails look like:

Miami Carol City Senior High School Class Of 1969

From:   Tammy McGuire Hollar
To:   Jamie Couch Quick
Subject:    Hello

I don't understand why I would even get this notification in the first place. Yes, my email is attached to a Guest Member account, but that is so I could log on and see what classmates see when I was doing the reunion survey. What would happen if I clicked to unsubscribe from email notifications? Would I then not even receive notifications of emails directed to me?

OK, in this case, you have Jamie has the Alternate E-mail being YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS. Just go into Manage Classmates, edit Jamie Couch Quick and remove the ALternate E-mail address.

This could have happened a long time ago, when using FireFox, the Password Field appeared below the ALternate E-mail address, so if you had Auto Fill turned on, it automatically filled in the E-mail address because there was a password field below it. The problem went away when the password was moved to right below the Primary E-mail.

Unfortunately, there is no way to export the Alternate E-mails, so if this is happening for more than one classmate, you just need to wait until you get another e-mail and then go in and change the alternate e-mail address.

I have deleted my email address from Jamie's profile. Hopefully that will end the problem.

Thanks!

I know you were blaming autofill, but this is the same as happened to me with several accounts. My email wound up as the alternate after installing with excel and I do not use autofill for anything.
Something out there is triggering the alternate to use the email of the site admin for alternate when updating.
It would be interesting if others had this happen and did this happen when the admin edited the profile or (another possibility in my case) the individual edited their profile while the admin was logged in. The latter situation being updates at a social gathering.

John & Betsy,

Just curious, which browser do each of you use most often?
Also do you have the Yahoo Toolbar, Google Toolbar, or any other toolbar active? Some of these toolbars have an autofill feature that has been known to fill in e-mail addresses.

I primarily use Google Chrome, but sometimes that browser doesn't work with some things on the class website, in which case I switch over to Firefox. It's probably set to autofill in either case.

What I plan to do is when/if I get this type of notification in the future, first check that person's profile to see if my email address is listed as secondary email.
