Has any one had to put a disclaimer on their web site concerning the use of the website for personal vendetta use?

Hi Sharon, I'm not sure what others have put on their websites, but I have the following at the bottom of my homepage: PRIVACY NOTICE: All contact information (address, phone number, e-mail address) entered into this website will be kept confidential. It will not be shared or distributed. Your contact information is private: your street address, e-mail address, and phone number cannot be seen by the classmates unless you grant permission on your Profile. When someone clicks on your name, the only contact information they will see is your city and state and whatever information about yourself you choose to put on your Profile. Unless you explicitly grant your permission, your email address is not visible, although an email can be sent to you using the contact box at the bottom of your Profile page. Note, however, if you send a message to someone through their Profile page, the Classmate will see your email address so that they can respond.

I have primarily the same as Dawn since I reviewed a few existing sites (and maybe Central High School) before I created mine and did a little plagiarism. PRIVACY NOTICE: All contact information (address, phone number, e-mail address) entered into this website will be kept confidential. You may choose to have your profile visible only to logged in classmates by checkmarking the Profile Visibility box. Please Note: This site is for attendees and graduates of Trenton High School, Class of 1980. It is completely FREE to all of the above and is privacy protected. And, there will NEVER be annoying advertising on this site.

Due to childish games of persons that are almost 50 years old I had to post this disclaimer last night. It is like okay guys grow up. ** Disclaimer*** This website was not designed as a place for private vendettas. It was designed as a venue for classmates to reacquaint themselves with old friends from the past, and for information concerning a class reunion. If you are trying to use this website in any other manner and it is brought to the attention of the Administrators you will be banned from the website.

As an old PR guy... I'd be more positive in the statement. Mentioning "Vendetta" just makes everyone else wonder what went on -- and raises the question in their minds: do THEY want to be a part of the website where SOMETHING went on or someone might attack them in some way. They will only think the worst. Heaven knows we don't need that! Too many people are nervous about being seen at the reunion as it is... So perhaps something like this in your own words: "We developed this website for the exclusive secure use of members of the Class of XX from XX High School. We built it so you could reconnect with your friends from back-in-the-day. Please reminisce, remember and share. Please use your best manners while visiting. The faculty and principal are no longer looking over your shoulder, but the rest of your classmates will be. We reserve the right to block access to this website to anyone who misuses or abuses it; keep in mind, you're not in high school anymore." -- or words to that effect.

Well, didn't think I'd need to worry about this, but the time is now here. Thanks, John, I'm going to interrupt a conversation on our forum with your suggested wording!
