Guest Member - do they need a special pw?

I am adding several names as Guest Members. I added them to Manage Classmates.

There was no place to assign a pw and I assumed that they would receive a message asking them to join and when they did, they would give themselves a pw.

But each of them is saying that they need a special site password to join.

I don't understand and I don't know where I would assign a site pw.

I would appreciate any help

This is pretty easy.

You cannot assign a password to a new member. They have to find their name on the Classmate Profiles page and register with their own password. Later on, you can change their password, but you cannot assign it initially.

Because your home page is password protected, your home page forces anyone wishing to see the Classmate Profiles page to click on "Proceed to Log In." This takes you to a page shown in the attachment. New classmates and guests are asked for a System Password, which you have to provide them. Then they can see the Classmate Profiles page and register.

One way for you to eliminate having to send them a System Password is to click on Edit Link for your Home Page and uncheck the "Restrict to Classmates Only" box. This is what I would recommend you do. Having your home page Restricted to Classmates Only is very unusual and indicates you wish to have an ultraprivate site.

Thanks again, Scott!

I hope you saw my other reply. Very kind of you to reach out to help.

Happy Holiday Weekend.

PS: I guess this should be a new topic but I fear I am overstaying my welcome on these Help Forums.

Our Reunion is in about 3 weeks.... we have yet to turn on the Registration.... I see Statistics telling me the traffic but that doesn't tell me the duration etc.

Does anyone use the Google Analytics provided by CC?... Is it helpful for a site like this or only a business?..... And if beneficial potentially...how does one read it?

Thanks againVery Happy
