Adding comments to Source

I have some tricky source code I have to edit and I'd like to add some programmers comments to help locate, explain & remember what was done. Isn't there a special format I can use like beginning character or bracketing that will allow me to add those and keep them saved in the Source?

Yes. A comment starts with you can have anything you want from start to end ( except -- should be avoided to prevent accidents). Then end does not have to be on the same line. For example

Is that better? You had the ending comment being --"> so it never ended the comment
