Making home page larger

Could someone look at my homepage and tell me if it can be made larger, it seems kind of small to me, with all the free space on the sides.

The home page is the size that is required for optimum viewing on most devices and it is the best size for using the Facebook ClassConnection app. You can get rid of some of the background image by changing your zoom of your browser and then the home page size will be made larger.
