Left Menu problem on iPad with Responsive Design

IMG_0592.JPG My website works fine on all devices except my iPad Air 2 (IOS 9.3.1) using the Safari browser. In landscape, the left menu looks fine, but in portrait, the left menu buttons extend right up to the text in the main reading column (see attached photo). The top and bottom bars of the seem to be correctly scaled. Can you tell me how to fix this?

The programmer made an adjustment. Please take a look and see if it is better now. I don't have an iPad handy to test at the moment.
