I checked the approval for new profiles - however I see they are logged in even when I get this message - This Profile is awaiting approval, to review this profile now, please click here. how can they access the site?

The New Classmate Verificate feature, when enabled, will not stop a non-verified Classmate from logging in. What it will do is prevent the Classmate from doing much of anything on the site, such as sending emails to other Classmates. Or viewing password protected site pages. Or viewing restricted Classmate Profiles, etc.
