Every year until my father died, I would call and wish him a happy USMC birthday. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and fought in WWII in the Pacific. Two deployments to Midway, 1 to Guadalcanal and finally the last battle of Guam. A lifer for 20 years, then another 20 in the reserves. I am a true Marine Corps brat!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story of your father - a Member of the Greatest Generation. I served in the USAF, but so many of my dear friends and several relatives served in the USMC (from WW II to Iraq and Afghanistan). Our nephew recently finished over 20 years of service with the USMC and our youngest grandson is on his 2nd tour with the USMC. You may enjoy this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9TqQWLtBJk. This is WW II Medal Of Honor recipient, Hershel "Woody" Williams, USMC. He is the last living Medal of Honor recipient from the Pacific Theater.
