I have been sending a few class emails and one In Memory notice and I'm not getting them but my classmates are. My emails are correct in my Details. Is there somewhere else I can check? Also, I have a primary and alternate email and sometimes I just get emails in my primary but not alternate. Help?

Thanks,
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
Which email provider is your alt? While all the primary and alt addresses for me and my test member have been working normally since the last Yahoo mess was finally resolved, I've heard lately that some hotmail users are not getting emails.

You can look at Statistics > Notify Me for sent and read counts for the days you send class emails. You know how many should be sent - (probably plus some other notifies too) but the daily "Sent" count is not as helpful as it could be since some people are set to Immediate and some are set to Once Daily.

The "Read" count suggests how many got the emails, although that too is often not a solid reflection of activity for the same Immediate/Daily reason, and because because some classmates don't check their email regularly - AND that READ number is increased (up to 100% of sent count) whenever someone views (or previews) that email multiple times.

You can use Email The Class to send yourself a test email or two, and if it works sometimes and fails at times, it may be that your Mail ISP has limits on the number of emails they will accept over some time frame.

If it is not a hotmail address then check to make certain that noreply@classcreator.net is whitelisted/approved sender/added to your contacts to ensure messages do not go to spam/junk.

If it is hotmail here is some additional information about hotmail

Microsoft stopped supporting hotmail in 2012 and discontinued their postmaster accounts where you could report email concerns. Many other developers who work with group/list based sending of email are complaining that they are also having issues with hotmail so developers are wondering if Microsoft is using hotmail as their testing ground for some of their upcoming email changes for list based sending systems.

We are already deep in the process of testing a new email configuration that addresses all of the upcoming changings coming to some of the major email providers over the next few years. Although some of them are still defining their rules and plans we have enough information from developers who have been beta testing the changes to know the general direction. Some of the developers making these changes that should not be required yet are reporting improved hotmail delivery so it is becoming clearer hotmail may be their Guinea pig for testing those changes. This is definitely happening to other systems that allow their users to create their own lists and send emails to those lists.

In the meantime you may wish to add a free gmail account to your alternate email addresses under Member Functions > Edit Contact Info >

Jessica,

Yesterday a member reported they had stopped getting e-mails from the site about 2 months ago to an msn address. Could this be related to the difficulty with hotmail?

I also have not received any emails at my hotmail.com address for about two months. I have an alternate gmail.com address to which they come, but it'd be nice to once again receive emails at my hotmail address.

MSN could be related if Microsoft choose to tweak there in addition to testing on Hotmail. The two systems are separate.

For MSN I would check to make certain that the user doesn't have their messages going to spam/junk and that they have noreply@classcreator.net whitelisted.
