Some of the users (classmates) have a huge amount of "white space" in the "Announcements" area in front of all the postings. How do I help them get rid of it? Duane

different browsers wrap long URLS differently. Some browsers (like Firefox) know that it can wrap the link to the next line on a "/" character. Some other browsers have not figured that out yet, so they cause wrapping problems like you are seeing. If a line doesn't know how to wrap, it moves the entire announcements block down the page until the line can be as long as it needs.

To fix the problem, I edited the announcement, then found the URL that was too long and changed what is displayed for that link so it has space characters so that all of the browsers know where to wrap that link.

Through trial & error (turning Announcements On & Off), this is what is causing the space problem. Evidently, I cannot use the Space Bar (Enter) to go to a new line. There is also a Poll attached. I'm obviously doing something wrong; what SHOULD I be doing?

When you hit in an HTML editor it starts a new paragraph. Some people try to use the space bar instead to get to a new line within the double spacing that a new Paragraph creates. If you are just trying to get to the next line without starting a new paragraph you can do and it will take you down to the next line without the double space.
