I stay logged in at all times. When classmates see the "Who's Online Now" box, does my name show as being online even though my computer may be off or my browser is closed? Or, do I actually have to be on the site?

You have to be activately using the site. Thus no, your name will not appear there even though you've opted to stay logged in. After integrated Instant Messaging we're going to be changing the way that box works. In fact it will probably be removed completely, with a lefthand flyout option available to always hover over and see who's online. This way you'll be able to instant message people from any page. That's down the road a bit still, but coming.

Is there a setting to notify you if a member is online when you are not?

No there is not. To do that we'd have to email you, text message you on your phone, or interface with a standard instantant messaging service. None of those things are currently planned, although we do have a new "Who's Online" feature planned that will offer more abilities.

So what's up with the WHO'S ONLINE NOW Box. Not showing anything it now.
Has this function been disabled on your end.
I went to several of the other class sites and it's the same thing.
