Is there a way to block a classmate from sending messages to another classmate? Apparently, one classmate has received a "disturbing" message from another (they used to date, but I do not know the details of the message) and while she wants to continue receiving messages from others, does NOT want to hear from a particular one. Anything we can do? Thanks.

Has she told him to stop?

There's no technical thing you can do to stop somebody from sending an email, no. But you could contact the offending Classmate and indicate that another occurrence will result in the suspension of his account.

This situation made me think that the typical 'ignore' feature on some websites might come in handy here.

There are some e-mail programs that can filter e-mail and send it to the JUNK MAIL folder. Maybe the classmate can set up a mail rule so if the REPLY TO field is the classmate then send the e-mail to the junk folder or delete the message.

Is there any option to disable the personal message area under an individual profile?

No, although we have it on the Task List to allow Classmates to do that in the future. Stay tuned. In the meantime, if somebody is wanting to browse the site but not be contacted, you may want to change their status to a non displaying guest member for now.
