Hello
I am sure this has probably been covered before but most seemed out of date.

I have a flyer that was created in Word, and made into a PDF. I also have a JPG of it.
I would like to post it as an announcement on our home page but the image size is too large when I tried pasting it into a new announcement and I am not sure how to reduce it.

Is there a better way to do this?
(PS - not terribly technical, please!)
Thanks
Judy

Hi Judy,
Just do a Google search for a free PDF compression program. There are quite a few available (https://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf) - is an example.
Use that software to compress your PDF to see if it shrinks down to an acceptable size.
You could also link to the PDF but that usually does not look as good on a web page.
You could do the same thing with the JPG you have (https://compressor.io/). See which of the two formats is smaller and use it.
NOTE: Probably the best solution is to upload the JPG file to the Flickr site you show on your website and them embed it in your CC page with the code that Flickr provides. That saves some of your file vault space and is very easy to do.

Upload the jpg into the announcement and right click on it. Select "Image Properties." Make sure the padlock is closed and enter the width. For your site I think the max is about 420. Be sure to press ok to save. The 420 is a number you can play with to get what you want and still keep it small enough to keep it from blowing out the home page.

I am working on an IPad - not sure how to “right click”

Also tried loading the PDF into the file vault. Gives me this really long URL.

There has to be an easier way to do this!!

I have the photo loaded into our gallery. Can I post it from there?

This may help vis a vis "right click."

I don't believe a photo in the gallery can be posted to an announcement.

Thanks -
I gave up and just copy/pasted the Word text and had to reformat, but it got the job done!
For those of us who are tech challenged, it sure isn’t an easy process!
I sure appreciate the responses, though! Thanks!

One can post any image in an announcement. One may need to explicitly list the image link for the src=".... link to any image anywhere.

Using style="width: 100%;" works pretty much anywhere. Leave height blank - do not specify.

Here's an example to test with
