We are a new user, coming from an old class website that was very cumbersome & difficult. We used to post obits for deceased classmates on the old site. I did searches here but could not find where this was discussed. How can we add obits to the In Memory pages, along with pictures? We have digital copies of them in .jpeg and .pdf formats.

We are in our 7 day trial period, but really like what's available here, and how easy it is to work with.

Thank you very much!

We post obituaries on our In Memory page, the default page classcreator.com has created for this purpose. We've retitled ours, "In Memory - Classmates." We've created a second In Memory page for our faculty members, "In Memory - Faculty & Staff." It doesn't have the same functionality as the "In Memory - Classmates" page. Nonetheless, it serves its purpose well.

We use the image editor to add photos and we hand type the obituaries. By hand typing them, the search engines pick them up and lead visitors to the site.

All our pages, except individual classmate profiles, are publicly viewable. Feel free to borrow any ideas you like.

Patricia,

Welcome to ClassCreator!

To post the actual obituaries, do the following: Edit Site Pages, Edit IN MEMORY page, Scroll down the page and find the classmate you are going to add to the IN MEMORY page and click the ADD button if they aren't already on your IN MEMORY list of classmates. Then click the EDIT link next to their names. You will then be able to add a different photo, year of death, if they served in the military, or obituary information. You can use the editor on the page to add obituary information and to add additional photos.

We added deceased faculty members as "Guest" members so they appear on the normal In Memory page so we have the same functionality. These faculty members also appear on the Classmate Profiles page as guests and are denoted as a teacher and the subject they taught.

Ray! You might scare Patricia. Thanks for the smile, I understood you were referring to a post awhile ago.

Patricia,
Welcome to the Class Creator family. Anything (questions, problems) you can think of someone will have the answer. Don't hesitate to ask. Good luck and if you need ideas just peruse other sites.

Wow! Thanks to ALL of you--first, for the warm welcome, and then for all the info in your responses.

Scott, I looked at your site, and really like some of your ideas: About the teachers, and "latest news" especially.

This is one amazing site! It feels like the beginning of a grand adventure. PPH

Patricia,

Don't let Ray scare you about adding pictures. Pasting pictures is usually not a good idea, but for In Memory posts done as admin and using the edit function for an In Memory line which brings up the editor, you can add pictures from your PC using "Browse" or from the Image Vault if you have one there.
In fact, for our members who'd posted current pictures in their profiles, we downloaded one, and add it to their In Memory post.
If you've uploaded yearbook pictures, one of those will display on the right - unless you use the 'Add a picture' option which will replace it. But if you edit the entry and use the editor to add a picture, it will display (appropriately resized) on the left, along with the yearbook picture on the right - and obit info below if you have it.
