I recently embeded music on the In Memory page of the site from playlist.com and while the song plays fine, once I click on a deceased classmate's name to view the contents of thier obituary etc. the music stops. Is there a way to allow the music to continue playing regardless of what name you open within the In Memory page?

No, not unless the classmate clicks the POP OUT PLAYER option on some playlists. As soon as the window closes, the music stops.

That is just the way the Internet is designed. All of the websites have the same problem.
