Would you take a look at my site and get the leafs falling again. I apparently added something to the the page that stopped them.

On Firefox, they are falling. (your TURKEY picture makes a very large gap, so the width needs to be adjusted - I adjusted it to 390) When I did a VIEW SOURCE, it looks like you have two codes of the falling leaves. I deleted the first one (kept the one after the green truck pumpkins image) It still doesn't work on Internet Explorer. Maybe it is the AOL Radio. Still looking into this.

Can you post the code that is being used here? I've tried several different programs and have gotten none of them to work in Safari as this one does. Also is the code on the home page or in an announcement?

FallingLeavesScript.txt Here it is. It is in the home page contents, but it can be in an announcement. You should probably upload the graphics to your own site in case they get deleted from the location below. See attached file for codes:

Thanks Kyle, works great. I may have leaves on my computer from previous attempts but in any case I'll make sure that I have them in my file vault in case they get deleted from the site from which you got this.

You may already know this, but you can change the images from leaves to turkeys, pies, acorns, etc. for Thanksgiving or spiders, bats, etc. for Halloween. You get the idea.

Thanks, Kyle. I made several attempts to get the "leaves" to fall following the original instructions but couldn't get them to work. They do now! Now, if you'd give us the codes for the snow and Valentines we'll be set until Easter! lol Mary How would I download this to my files?

In the script code, you will see five lines like this shown below. Image0.src=grphcs[0]="http://www.classcreator.com/000/1/4/5/9541/userfiles/image/leaf1.gif" Copy from "http:" to ".gif" and paste it into your browser URL line. When the image shows up, right-click on it and save it to your hard drive. Repeat for the other four graphics. After they are saved to your hard drive, upload them to your File Vault. After you have uploaded them to your own file vault, change the graphic names in the script to be the names of the graphics in your Image Vault. (hint: you can get the name of the image in your image vault by clicking on the link and then right-clicking on the image and choosing PROPERTIES). For SNOW and VALENTINES, you can just replace the leaf graphics with snow and valentine graphics.

YES, you have to be in SOURCE view mode. Any time you are pasting CODES, you want to be in SOURCE view mode. You can just activate your announcement to create the falling leaves, then deactivate it when you are done with them. It doesn't matter where on the page, as long as you are in SOURCE and not between any other codes. Just FYI, it is KYLE, but maybe it is a finger fumble where your fingers are too fast. (I am not upset or offended)

Hi Kyle, Am trying to use other flakes for snow, using the falling leaves script. I get the falling x's, but no flakes. I'm using jpg's for snowflakes - do they need to be gifs? I can't convert to gif on my computer (probably can, but am not tech-savvy enough to know how! Or is there a different problem? Thanks!

You did everything right except the part about including the ".jpg" at the end of the graphic. PS those are mighty big snowflakes. You might want to reduce their size. I think the reason that .gif files are used is because they can have invisible backgrounds. I don't think that .jpg files can be invisible backgrounds, so when your snowflakes are falling, it will hide what is behind it.

The Windows Paint program does this. Just open up your jpg file and click File/Save As... and change the type to .gif. I think it should work.

You might want to try irfanview.com They have a free graphic editor. I wouldn't know what to do in the graphic editor to change the background color to invisible. Maybe you could experiment with it.

Kevin, The red X is telling you that it can't find the graphic. So I looked at your IMAGE File Vault and saw that the snowflakes were there, so I put the location of the image in the script code. It is now snowing on your website.

Melissa Goihl wrote: Kyle, I got the lips, heart and cupid to fall across my home page. Have two questions: thanks, Good questions. 1. To slow down the falling objects, just change the number to a larger number in the script 2. If you edit the Falling Leaves script and search for the first word "position:absolute;" and replace it with "z-index:100; position:absolute;" then the leaves (or bats) will always appear on top of everything. They won't appear behind the high school picture. (There are two places)

If you know JavaScript or want to look at your file, you also change the name of one of the functions, but didn't change all of the references to that function. If you want exactness, you can just look at your backups from the page and see what I changed.
