I just noticed the check box for displaying yearbook photos on profile page. SUPER! However, photos for deceased classmates are not being displayed. I have searched for a place to enable this but have not found the answer. Am I overlooking something?

I figured it out. I have to upload each photo again. Even though the photo was displaying when looking at the details, it wasn't showing on the profile page. I guess the pictures are in more than one location. Anyway, I found the solution.

Let me explain something here that's kind of undocumented. If you upload a Classmate's Yearbook photo, and later mark that Classmate as deceased, the Yearbook photo carries over and automatically becomes the "obit photo" (as well call it at that point) too. You can change it out for another obit photo if you prefer without affecting the original senior photo you uploaded, that still appears on your class list.

Alternatively, if you add a Classmate to the In Memory area who has NOT had a prior Yearbook photo added, then the "obit photo" must be added from the In Memory edit area itself. Once a Classmate has been marked deceased, all photos or text from that point forward must be added under the In Memory edit area.

Thanks. I had a feeling the yearbook photo and obit photo were 2 separate things. Makes sense because a recent photo might be used for the obituary. I realized this when I went into update/edit classmates and saw that the yearbook photo column was not filled in for our deceased members. Thanks again for clarifying this.

What happens if you have a person who set up a profile, entered their information about their life and photos of them and their family - then something happens and they pass away - Then I place them in the "In Memory" page. I have not had this happen yet but I started a test with a teacher that I know passed away a while ago. I joined him to the site with my email address and a different password. I put all of the information I could find on him, put in his birthday and I put his obituary picture in as a photo upload.

What will happend to all of that information if I add him to the "In Memory" Page?

Anytime I click on classmates profile, select the year I want to look at on my multi-year site, select a person whom I put into the In Memory page, it always goes to the In Memory page and not a specific profile - I thought it did that because this person had already passed away and I put them first thing into the In Memory page.

Do my questions make sense to you? I would think that most people would still like to see what this person put in their profile before they deceased and then as well be able to see any text or newspaper obituaries in the In Memory page.

Let me know before I put my test subject in the In Memory page because then I would have to redo the research if I am block from seeing his profile presently. I guess as the root administrator, I would not be block, but no one else would be able to see what I see.

Thanks,

Debbie

P.S. Oh well, what is a test if you don't actually complete it. Here goes.

That link is nice to see ~ Click here to see Merrill M.'s last Profile entry. I had no idea that you set this up to be able to see the profile. This is exactly what I was hoping for. So, would this work if I click on "show profile entry" even if a classmate/faculty has not joined and I enter information about that classmate/faculty before I add them to the In Memory page?

Thanks
Debbie

Hi Debbie,

I have two answers for you on this one. One answer is that right now you would need to fully join on their behalf, then create a profile and then move their entry over to In Memory.

We are working on a solution that would give you a toggle to turn this on as an admin instead. If you need to add it now though you'll need to do it the first way.

I know I must be missing something somewhere. I uploaded yearbook photos for all classmates. I have added a new photo to the In Memory section for a deceased classmate, but I can't get rid of the yearbook photo. I want to keep the yearbook photo in her classmate profile. I put the picture on the In Memory page in a table with 2 candles.

Any photos or images you add via your editor have no impact on anything else in the system. Here's what you want to do:

1) Click Edit Site Pages
2) Click the Edit button next to your In Memory page
3) Click the Edit link next to the Classmate's name
4) Delete or replace obit photo as you desire

I don't have an option to delete the yearbook photo when I go to edit a classmates' In Memory page. There is an option to upload a photo above the editor. Because I thought it would be easier for me to place a candle on either side of the photo, I uploaded them all through the Image Button within the editor. What am I missing?

Yes you do. Right under the photo itself check the "Delete photo" checkbox. Then just save the page.

Edit In Memory Details page.docx

I've attached a screenshot of the Edit In Memory Details page of the classmate in question. Is this the page I should be seeing the Delete Photo option?

I got it Brad. I went in under Manage Classmates & deleted the yearbook photo.

I am relatively new at CC, but I have an issue I can't solve. I added obituary information on classmates prior to adding their Yearbook photo. Now I have the obituary photo overlying the yearbook photo! I would like to have the yearbook photo showing along with the obituary information.
Check Marian Allen (Davis) for an example.

Any "obit photo" added to the In Memory area is going to appear in the upper right corner by default. You can use this default obit photo area or not, or you can simply upload everything into your editor and lay out the page as you desire.

In your case I'm not seeing any overlap, but I have a feeling you've alrady gone in and slightly reduced the size of your original images you inserted. In any case, if two images are too wide to fit on the page side by side, the only option you have is to reduce the image uploaded through your editor until it is small enough width wise to fit on your page.
