Hi all,
I just subscribed to ObitsArchive.com and I wanted to offer my services. If you'd like me to look up some of your classmates and send you the obituary for them, send me a private message with any info you have (name, city, year)
I'll email you their obituary....

Beth Smile

UPDATE: Please search obitsarchive.com and ensure there are entries for them (you can do this without a subscription). If you find they have an entry, I'd love to send it to you. It's far to difficult for me to do all the searching though...

UPDATE2: 3/22/09 I'm all out of my 100 prepaid articles. I did find it was a good source for the most part. Not all the articles were long though, so I wouldn't get a subscription for just 1 or 2 articles.

Beth....I have a lot of classmates that don't have their obituaries. Do you find the ObitsArchive.com is worth the money to join? Thanks in advance.

Judy,

For many years, I've had a subscription to genealogybank.com. I think I pay around $99 for a two year subscription.

They have obituaries from 6500 newspapers around the country. You can dig through their site and find out the newspapers which they carry before you subscribe. See if your hometown paper is included and for which years. Even if it's not included, you can still search for people who have passed anywhere in the country that includes the world Vale in the obit.

They also have searchable newspaper articles for selected newspapers, and the Social Security Death Index, which is nice to help confirm someone's passing and for those who don't have an obituary.

I keep track of about 2,000 people, including all my classmates going back to kindergarten, upper and lower classmen, parents, teachers, and staff. I'd estimate I've saved several thousand dollars in searching by using genealogybank.com. Normally, you pay $2.95 to see an obituary from legacy.com after one year, so you can save a lot of money with genealogybank.com.

Thank you Scott...I'll check that out. Our Class website has gradually grown to include anyone who Graduated from our school and wants to be part of it ??. Again thank you so much.

Hi Judy,
We never purchased ObitsArchive. I just rely on classmates to send in obits.
