On my desktop the area next to the site is smaller (the area you see the background) yet on my lap top it is larger. I have tried using the ctrl and scroll button but it distorts things and doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. Do I need to change something on the computer?

It's your screen resolution. 1) Right click any blank area on your desktop
