The statistics page defines an Active Classmate as “a Classmate who has joined and is participating in your site.” Is it possible to join without participating enough to be counted as an Active Classmate?

Why are deceased classmates counted in the inactive classmates statistic? Shouldn't they be left out of the calculation or

The deceased are not counted as inactive. They are left out of the statistic regarding active classmates altogether. Active Classmates just includes as active those who have joined the site. Inactive are those still alive who have not joined the site.
