Just a thought but how about a differant symbol than the **?
I am not sure what maybe someone has an idea. I do not like the symbol. I like the Rose. Maybe a cross? Sad face? I am not sure.

I'm not sure either, but one thing I can tell you is this area is the most senstive area of the entire system. If we put a cross in there we'd have at least a portion of the user base complaining. Likely the same thing would go for the sad face. Awhile back someone suggested a tombstone. It would never fly. Awhile back we had to change the 6 pointed star on the Classmate Profiles page to a 5 pointed star due to religious beliefs. For reasons like these it's probably how we ended up with just the generic **. I'm definitely not opposed to changing the symbol, I'm just opposed to changing it to something that would cause conflict. And in this case, coming up with anything that won't is going to be extremely difficult. Certainly open to other suggestions though.

Ahh yes, political correctness is a wonderful thing!

How about a variety of symbols that the user could choose from?

This is a modern symbol from comics for annihilation of ideas or moment of death. OR

Because black represents death or loss, a simple small black square OR

Using the rose, go with something like this to tie the red rose into the In Memory symbol already being used on CC.

Yellow ribbon is a great idea! I was thinking yellow rose but it is not quite right. Somehow the Rose has to be more important so that people will want to make comments. The yellow ribbon would show with just about all colors too. What do you thin Brad?

I agree the yellow ribbon is often associated with missing. We can't write out anything at all. It's a little tiny icon that can't contain very much pixel info. It needs to be consistent with the size of the other icons on the page.

Brad, just leave the ** and lets move on ....WE will all be dead before this is resloved!!!

There just has to be more important things than this!!!!
