I'm getting ready to transition our site from Professional 8 to Responsive Design. I've got the main bits figured out but I can't determine whether I can change how the Edit Site Pages looks. I have a big problem reading white text on black background. I get a nearly instant headache from eye strain. Since I'm the main admin for the site, this is a big problem not just for me but our class. Can I retain the appearance of the Edit Site Pages in our current 8 design when I switch over to Responsive design? Or can I change the font color and background of the Edit Site Pages of the Responsive Design? I need a way to eliminate the white text on black background view. I did a search but came up empty. TIA!

I thought I responded to this? Don't see it now. Anyway, are you talking about the html EDITOR? Your current selection for your Site pages is white text on a black background. You can change that in either type of design.

DesignView.png This is what I mean. Left is what I currently see. Right appears to be what it will be after I switch over to Responsive Design. I've reviewed the videos, which makes it look like the edit pages view doesn't change but the videos are older so I don't know if that's still the case. My hubs reviewed the Page Source info but he wasn't able to decipher it well enough to know if or what he could change (he's a retired software engineer) so we really don't want to mess with the page code. The left hand column and top bar are white text on black background but it's tolerable since I'm not actively working there like I am when editing site pages. Thank you for responding!

The RIGHT image is just the page to design your site. It's not the Editor. Pick the various sections to design your Responsive options. The LEFT side is identical in Responsive. And so is the Editor. The hardest part can be setting up the top image and school logo. Switching back and forth from Classic to Responsive has a BUG where you can lose your work. So be careful there. I wouldn't go back-and-forth Pick the options shown on the Right side, from top to bottom, one at a time and you will see how it works. It's pretty nice vs classic's limited choices. You will like that the TOP upper Right corner menu makes admin options much easier/faster to access. I agree the instructions were not done well. It is confusing on how to set up a Responsive Site. I mentioned a long time ago (and repeated) that they should have made a "sticky" topic about just Responsive and how to set it up. Yes, you can override many things fairly easily with CSS stored in ADVANCED SITE TRACKING WITH GOOGLE ANALYTICS. Not explained anywhere but CSS (or scripts) entered there will be active on ALL pages except a few since you can destroy a site display with errors I have used that feature a lot to customize our site.
