The 50th reunion seems to be the ‘break-over’ point for many classes. Some classes continue to have reunions, while some abandon them due to dwindling numbers or travel restrictions as we age.
Does your class do anything other than a 55th – such at lunch gatherings every year or two, gathering with other classes, etc.?

The locals have a class breakfast every month and there is a formal reunion every five years. We've had both a fifty fifth and sixtieth thus far and I anticipate there will be a sixty fifth.

After the well-attended 50-year reunions, our alumni get together in Clusters. In 2023 the classes of 1967-68-69 will celebrate their more-or-less 55th. We could build a multi-year Class Creator website for that event, but the classes of '68 and '69 have already posted a lot of material on their individual sites. In order not to lose that, we're leaning toward having the existing '68 site serve as the central site for the cluster. As noted, fewer alumni are excited about their 55th, but any '69 and '67 people interested will be invited to join the '68 site as guest members. (Also, the other classes can join '69 as guests and see the good stuff there.)

We've canceled our 50th twice due to Covid, but hope to hold it next year. Since we're so spread out geographically, we do not anticipate having local get-togethers, like luncheons, after our 50th/52nd, but do anticipate having reunions every 5 years into the indefinite future.

We also cancelled our 55th Reunion twice due to Covid and hope we can safely celebrate our 55th September 2022. Prior to Covid we had casual quarterly gatherings at a local pub. Unfortunately, due to Covid, our last get together was two years ago.

Good question, Steve. This thread is good for all to reference when the time comes.

As you know, my class (MCHS1970.com) has rescheduled our 50th reunion twice. The dates were September 18-19, 2020, June 4-5, 2021, and now we are planning June 3-4, 2022.

We survey members on our site as to the month and other details of the reunion. As far as a 55th, we are focusing on the 50th two years late. Perhaps we'll discuss a 55th when we gather next June.

In 2017, we had our 50th reunion. We had a little over 200 people attend in a class of about 420. About 30% of the attendees were spouse. We have a very active committee of 17-20 people who plan a picnic each year. One of our classmates has a large farm-like property where we hold these picnics. We have had attendance of 45-55, increasing slightly each year. We have costume contests, games, food, and it’s a lot of fun. And we have funny website posts touting the picnic. One year we roasted a pig, this last year we brought on BBQ.
