Twice I have removed an image and placed our 2022 class photo in the header at mchs1970.com. Both times, it disappears. I've saved and published. Is there an issue?

I added it again, saved and published. Closed my browser, opened a private browser window, and it was there. Then I went back to the other browser. It is there. We shall see if it is there tomorrow.

Looked at mchs1970.com and the header photo is not there. Any idea?

Looks like you figured it out, Gwen! See attached file. Is that you in the front row with the purple top?

Hi Jessica,

Yes, you saw it because I had to add it again... and just did again as I stated in Response #3. I'm having to do this every day. It seems to disappear overnight. Is there a log of RD changes you can see?

It is good to hear from you, Jessica.

Gwen

Hi Scott,

It is good to hear from you.

You may have read my original post - not Response #3. I wrote that two hours before your reply, which is why you could see it.

I've had to add it back every day. Why? The only thing I can come up with is it is being removed by the system overnight. I will not have time this week to check and fix every day. The timing is not good as we have a reunion in June and are so close to our donation goal. The photo is from our last reunion.

Oh! The woman in the purple is my birthday buddy - same birthday. I wish I looked that good.

EDIT ADD:

I thought this was it, yet the photo is a screen shot with the icon. I changed the photo hoping this works.

---

Jessica, There is an additional person icon behind the gears in the upper right of the header photo. That may be the issue. Can you find and remove it?

Me, again.

I had to add the photo again yesterday. I chose one with a different file name as suggested by Jessica.

Moments ago, I opened the site to see a BLANK header.

The photo was on the site at least a year.
- What has changed that it does not stay in place overnight?
- Though it should not be the image size as it was fine before, might that be it now?

All I want is a fix for this, please.

EDIT ADD: At 9:43 PM ET, I used the ADJUST option to RESIZE the photo. XL shows 1232 x 350. I sized it 1232 x 400. Now I wait until tomorrow - Wednesday, March 12th.

It says the image is not found. IOW, the image is not being saved after a time has elapsed. There are several bugs regarding image caching, saving, etc. I just work around them Wink (Jessica referenced one of them with changing the name).

Try changing it to a JPG vs a PNG.

There is another way to force it work by overriding the CSS, but let's see if the JPG change works.

There are several free sites that convert PNG files to JPG files. Just do a search for convert PNG to JPG.

This is the link for the image. It does not load = does not exist.

Hi Scott, I can change the extension. The point is this photo was in the header at least a year after our reunion. Strange.

The last three images I used were from the top five in the file. They are all JPGs!

I am adding the image to the header once again.

It may disappear again after midnight.

This is the current image reference. Right now (3:24 PST) it shows. If that link stays the same AND it no longer shows, this is a BUG in the CC file system. I'd like to see it in the jpg format though. ALL your other sites are using the jpg format.

[Not sure what you meant by changing the extension. To change it to a PNG, the image has to be read and saved as a jpg.]

If you are interested in how to override the code so it never disappears (using your file vault), I can post the code to do that.

Image again is not found and the link is the same as when it worked. So .... something is wrong at CC. I've also lost images that used to exist. Gave up trying to get CC to recognize that there is a file retention issue Idea

Only way to fix (using that image) is to override the CSS

Can you attach the original raw image or email it to info@classcreator.com so I can run some tests with it.

I just need the photo being used for the header.

It's not the image. I just used the PNG version (link above that worked and then disappeared) on a test site and it survived 'midnight' so far. So something to do with that site's configuration (the virtual server setup)? Obviously not the same as my test site. [I'll see if changes and let you know.]

FYI a JPG version of this file is 460kb vs 4,520kb for the PNG. A 10X difference. Virtually no difference in quality. Smaller files improve page loading.

Jessica, The header space is still gray. Roni Bierman Rogers MCHS1974.com is seeing the same on MCHS1970.com. Therefore, it is not my cache, internet, or computer. I'm lost.

Jessica, I can try again, yet I do not want to get in your way if you are looking at it.

It was there for so long. I changed it to a 1968 photo of the school and now the system keeps taking it down.

Um, Jessica. This is less than a minute of what I see. What I see is... um... different.

That image is coming from THIS. When screen size changes different CSS is invoked. That's what Responsive is all about. There is code that detects screen size changes and then that modifies the CSS being used.

So this is some prior header. #header1 (I posted before) is not found, but THIS one still exists. So once that bug got created it won't change. And that actually explains why when changing design things go wacky at time Idea
