Is there something special to do in order to get the option to see a map of 'Where we Live'?
I saw a site created with CC and there was the option to Show Classmates on Map, but I don't get that on my site. Is it dependent on the theme used to build the site?

Go to Edit Pages and click on Home Page. The "Where We Live" option is there, you just need to click to activate it

Is there a way to display this map only behind the log in? This is a huge amount of private information to be displaying publicly.

Yes, you could take the code and put it on a separate page that is PRIVATE. Use "View Source" in a browsers to copy and paste the code. Search for "Where We Live"

Here's a page I quickly made for OUR site, Could make it prettier.

Like all the other home page optional right-side modules, this one can also be set to only display for logged in members.

To amplify on what John Ralph said above, under Edit Site Pages > Edit Home Page, in the section Right Modules, under the Logged In* column, click the button for "Where We Live."

@Scott Moore -- I appreciate this helpful direction. To be clear, I did select "Logged In*" and it had no effect. Confirmed three different ways that the map was fully accessible to family members without access to the site as will as in a private browser window. Very concerning.

Everything I looked at indicated that the page needed to be set server site by Class Creator to logged in only. Only class creator can do that.

Because classmates were asking for an easy way to see where others are -- but absolutely no one wants their information out in public -- I have been messing with creating my own version on a page that requires a log in.

I like the example @JackVermeulen provided, but will need to be checking multiple times from multiple directions to confirm the privacy of the information before I am willing to proceed again. Very disappointed that the "loggin In*" toggle is not functional.

Two other possibilities to check:

1. When you toggled "Logged In*" did you click on SAVE CHANGES at the bottom. Otherwise, the change will not take.

2. After you toggled "Logged In*" and clicked SAVE CHANGES at the bottom, did you log out of our site and see if "Where We Live" disappeared from the right module on the home page. If you don't log out, "Where We Live" will still be there.

On our site, when I toggled "Logged In*", then SAVE CHANGES, and logged out, "Where We Live" disappeared. So, following all the steps works for me and I believe the "Logged In*" toggle works fine.

Yes, just turn Logged In ON and it will not show at all. Verify you are logged out by clicking on an active locked profile and see if you can view it (or try to edit your pages). If you are really logged out, neither of those will work.

You don't have to click "Save", just toggle the box. Indeed, if you try to save, the msg "no changes made" will show up Cool

I might just make my little tests a separate link vs on the side. Side gets a bit BUSY Shocked

Modified Test Page a bit prettier.

Have turned the Logged In toggle ON and it is still visible without logging in. Have verified that I, and several other testers, are logged out by clicking on an active locked profile. When logged out we are unable to view any profiles as we locked them all to begin with. Also, of course, when logged out we are unable to edit our pages.

I have clicked "Save", after toggling the box. Indeed, the msg "no changes made" will show up.

To repeat, we are well and truly really logged out, and most functions requiring being logged in do not work. HOWEVER the link to the map leads to a map in still fully visible state. Not sure how much more clear I can be.

Not cool. Very much a not cool security breach. Obviously I have disabled the map. Still require ClassCreator to move the map I cannot delete behind a log in or to delete it entirely. And I am still unable to do that myself. How do I reach a human to say this one last time with finality -- instead of continuing to hear that I have failed to set a toggle which I have multiple times explained that I have properly set?

Thank you.

I never did see the map on your page Cool

Turn it active again so we (the one's in this thread) can see if we can see the map. That will help confirm which one is true.

If we can't see it, then there is something else going on.

It would be unusual for only your site to not work. We have three here (counting me) that experimented and verified that turning Only Logged in works. The MAP never shows up.

No - And you will not, as I have stated above, it is a SECURITY BREACH. Not cool. I have sent the link to Class Creator via email, because ......it is a security breach.

I will not turn active again so you or anyone one else can see it for the same reason.

If we can't see it, then there is something else going on. Agreed.

It would be unusual for only your site to not work. We have three here (counting me) that experimented and verified that turning Only Logged in works. The MAP never shows up. But yet the site has created the MAP and a link to that MAP. I have asked multiple times that ClassCreator delete that MAP or put it behind the log in. Unusual things happen all the time. This is one and it is easily confirmed by checking the email I have sent to support at classcreator.

Help me understand who receives emails sent to support at classcreator and why it is okay for that person to ignore those emails when they are marked urgent. Similarly, who (fails to) respond to the phone messages left for ClassCreator? Thank you.

If you turned it on for just a day - or less if we all say we visited, I doubt anything bad will happen. It's not like people are scouring your site looking for someone. They'd have to CLICK on the link, then manually follow the map, etc.

I have two other sites and it works there as advertised. So that's FIVE sites that work. The way to solve problems is to contribute. Find out what is really going on. If WE can't see it, then the problem is clearly on the user's end. Simplest way to figure this out.

Your site has a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) custom set of code added on the home page. Do not think this is created by CC. I've never seen a giant script added by CC. Typically it's hidden in custom CFM. Open and look at page source. Go to the area that Says:

< !-- EE76: wrap+underline email links, blue->green buttons, rewrite login footer -- >
--and--
/* 1. mark attending classmates, but ONLY on the unfiltered list.
On a page already filtered to one event, ClassCreator shows that
page's own icons and adding ours changes what that page used to look
like. Lisa, 14 Sep. */

Appears to be related to reunion stuff and added by one of your members? Looks like that is you- "Lisa Sept" and "2 Oct 2026". It is odd.

Looks like you put that code in Preferences/Analytics since it appears everywhere.

Let’s focus on the easy fixes please.

- Who is responsible for responding to emails to support at class creator?

— who is responsible for answering phone messages left on the class creator telephone number?

Thank you.

Indeed, let's focus. The easy fix is to see if WE can see what you do.

Very odd response here. It could be YOUR code that is the reason behind the issues.

How in the world somebody would be interested in that map and what they could possibly gain is beyond me.

What in the world is all that code doing on every page?

Do you think that with thousands of users that yours is the only one with this issue? Let's see if ANYBODY that is reading this has this problem. Simple problem solving takes cooperation. I had a few coding mistakes that showed up on another site that I did not think off and it messed up a page of theirs.

I have answered very clearly that I won't be turning the map on again. I should not need to defend that decision. Everything on our site, with the exception of a help file about how to upload post-graduation photos, is and has behind the login. That's a decision my class felt strongly about.

I have sent the needed information about the leak to ClassCreator via the support at ClassCreator email address. I have also used the support form in ClassCreator's support area.

I have also called ClassCreator's help phone number.

I have received no response to any of these. And I have asked who is responsible for these points of contact for ClassCreator.

Why not?

Hi Lisa,

I don't know how to solve your problem of displaying Where We Live behind the log in, other than the suggestions I have made, but I'd like to address a point you made in your initial Oct. 2, 2026 post:
"This is a huge amount of private information to be displaying publicly." I'm not sure what you mean by "a huge amount of private information being displayed publicly." Let me explain.

Please go to our site and click on Where We Live, which is not behind the log in. Click on a state and a name. You'll likely see a lock icon on the far right of the name. That means you must be logged onto our site to see any information on the classmate. The lock icon is created by a classmate when the classmate joins the site, under the Profile section, which lets a classmate choose whether to block his/her profile vi vsibility to the public and search engines. Almost every classmate who joins chooses to block his/her profile visibility. Even if they don't block their profile visibility, their most sensitive info, their contact info, is automatically blocked by Class Creator and viewable only by administrators. Therefore, when you click on nearly any name on our site under Where We Live, you won't see any information on the classmate, because you are not logged onto our site, other than an individual from my class lives in a particular state.

Similarly, if Where We Live on your site was not hidden behind a log in, I would be unable to see any information on a classmate on your site when I clicked on a name under where We Live until I was logged onto your site, except that an individual named John Doe who graduated from your school in 1976 lived in a particular state.

If even the information that an individual in your class who lives in a particular state is public concerns you, then you are better off leaving your Where We Live module behind a log in, once you figure out how to do it, and retain your ultra-private approach to your site.

In short, in my opinion, Class Creator does a good job of protecting the privacy of classmates who join a site. Our site takes a different approach than you do regarding public visibility of site pages. We deliberately wish visitors to see the list of Classmate Profiles, as well as other pages, so they will be encouraged to join. For that reason, every page on our site is publicly viewable. That has resulted in 81% of our classmates joining our site. We'll never reach 100%, as some classmates do not use a computer and others are not interested in their high school days. But, having our site as visible as possible opens the possibilities for more classmates and guest members to join, which we like.

Good luck in achieving a solution which works for you.

Jack,

I'm pretty sure you've identified the cause of Lisa's problem. I added a countdown clock to my home page and some of the code in it affected how it displayed. This is the thread in which it was discussed.
