Is Class Creator or Class Names in any way associated with a company called, Domain Renewal Group? The reason I'm asking. Today I received a letter from them wanting me to renew my class domain name through them. I'm not going to support a company that has nothing to do with Class Creator and end up not supporting Brad and company for all that they do.

No we are not affiliated with that company. If it is not an email from ClassNames.net then it is not a renewal from us. Unfortunately there are several domain name scam companies that send out what looks like an invoice or renewal when it is actually a transfer to a completely different registration company.

We now send out an auto email to domain name owners 8 months after their domain purchase warning of these scams. Not only is the bill always significantly higher than Classnames.net, if you try to fight it these companies are relentless about not giving your money back, and threatening that your domain will no longer bring up your web site if you try to fight them. It's bundles of fun... Hopefully our automated notice will make people aware of this before the scams show up. Unfortunately we've had a couple Class Creator admins fall for this recently, costing them money and temporarily downing their site as well... Thanks for bringing this up -- the more reminders the better. Many of these scam registrar solicitations are extremely well disguised as a bill that is owed...

The other company that sends out letters is Web Listings Inc. Just received that one today. It is going straight into the trash.

I received that today too. It had my mailing address but not my name which struck me as odd. I did see that it said it was not a bill but a solicitation and it was for $65. I, too, ripped it up and threw it away. Tam

We (Class Creator) do the customer support for our Classnames.net customers. Yes, if your credit card info is expired on that account, you'll need to update it in order to renew the domain name.

I received a scam one and paid them thru Visa Bank of America. When I realized what it was, I turned over the problem to Bank of America and they got my money back.
