Louis Jewell Griffin, 71, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Louis was affectionately known to friends and family as "Griff." Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Householder officiating. Steve Harrison will give the eulogy. Memorials: Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Samaritan's Purse (Franklin Graham's organization). Louis was born Nov. 19, 1940, in Brownwood, the second son of Adrian and Faye Marie Griffin. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, in 1959 where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He also sang in the high school choir. Griff attended Texas A&M University from 1959-1961 where he was in the Corps of Cadets and played baseball. He remained a proud Aggie his entire life. Griff married the love of his life, Vicki Marie Lewis, on July 7, 1962. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was an avid golfer and serious bowler and won numerous bowling awards and twice bowled a perfect 300 game. Griff and his family moved to Hurst in 1971, and he began a 40-year career as an estimator, sales, and project manager for Component Construction Corporation. He served as president of the North Texas Chapter of the Metal Building Dealers Association in 1980 for multiple terms. Griff was active in the community. He coached pee-wee football for over 10 years, seeing a couple of his former players make it to the NFL. He was very active in his home church of Bellevue Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth group worker. He also sang in the church choir and played numerous seasons with the church softball team as a lefty first baseman. Griff and his family also often served as "unofficial foster parents" to both young people and stray animals alike! There was rarely a moment in the Griffin household without an addition at the dinner table - whether two-legged or four! He was preceded in death by his sister, Pansy Ruth Griffin; brother, Floyd Fennell Griffin; mother, Faye Marie Griffin; and father, Adrian Fennell Griffin. Survivors: Wife, Vicki Griffin; son, Michael Shannon Griffin and wife, Michelle; daughter, Beth Martinez and husband, Sonny; sister-in-law, Liz Griffin; nephews, Steve Griffin and Gregg Griffin; grandchildren, Seth and Shelby Griffin, Nate Martinez, who knew him affectionately as "Papa"; numerous cousins and extended family. Louis Jewel "Griff" Griffin will be fondly and lovingly remembered by all his friends, classmates, co-workers, and especially by his family.

Esther,

Sometimes when you copy text from a newspaper, there are hidden formatting codes. When you pasted it here, maybe those formatting codes got removed (but so did the paragraph and line feeds codes).

I went ahead and pasted the above text and tried to format it nicely. You can go in now and correct any formatting you don't like or add some more formatting.
