Display Class Creator Banner on your Home Page
Posted Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 2:56 AM
You can now display a Class Creator banner on your home page. The banner links to the Class Creator home page and automatically uses the Root Administrator's "Refer a Friend" affiliate link. When somebody clicks on the banner and signs up for Class Creator, a check for $50 is sent to the Root Administrator. To do this: 1) Click Edit Site Pages 2) Click the Edit button next to Home Page 3) Activate the CC Banner module 4) Use arrows to position as desired if on the right. If you put the banner in your main content area it will automatically affix itself at the bottom of your homepage so it does not interfere with any plugins or right modules you may have activated. We've had an extremely positive response to our Refer a Friend program. This features will make it easier for somebody new to find out about Class Creator and create a nice class web site, you receive a $50 check to use for web site costs or class activities, and we get a new customer. A nice triple win scenario.

Is the link right for this? The Refer A Friend says to use this link: http://www.classcreator.com/index.cfm?M=M###### The new Banner has the link like this: http://www.classcreator.com/index.cfm?M=###### Will they both work? There is a slight difference, the Refer A Friend has "M######" The old Refer A Friend said to post your link as follows: http://www.classcreator.com/index.cfm?affiliate_id=M###### Will this still work?

Hi Kyle, I am so glad you brought this up. Last night when I realized all of this, I thought I was going crazy when I saw my "Refer a Friend" number was different that the ones I had posted previously. I wondered where in the heck I got those numbers. Thanks for clearing that up.

Both links will work and credit you just fine. We really should have never included the word "affiliate" in the link itself. I asked the programmer to change it. But yes, both will work no problem.

All 3 work fine but the programmer changed it so the banner links preface your member_id with an M again. It's just for tracking, you're all set.

Brad: Is there a chance that the Class Creator Banner could be changed from the Block format on the right side of the home page, to a true full length banner at the bottom of the home page?

Next to your CC Banner, just click the move to body area down arrow. That'll do it.

Brad, I'm having a heck of a time understanding how to move the Class Creator Banner from the right side to the very bottom of the home page UNDER the announcements. I didn't want to bother you about this because I did it right before on another site, and I also asked Everett above how to do it, but it still will not go down there. When I click to send it to the content area, it goes all the way to the top pushing all the other content WAY down the page. It has (fixed) by "ClassCreator banner," up there, not the green and red arrows for moving up or down????? What am I doing wrong???? Thanks much!!

I couldn't reproduce the problem you were seeing. When I clicked the link on the Edit Site Pages and instead of clicking the RED/GREEN arrows, I clicked the text off to the right in the "OPTIONS" column, the banner got moved to the TOP section and was put below the announcements, just like you wanted. I was never able to see the ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP.

I just set this up, and of course it at first defaults to the on the right. I clicked to move to the Main Content Area, and resulted in ALL my announcements, etc to be pushed to the bottom. Huge blank space in Content. Am I doing something incorrectly?

That's really weird... The banner should affix to the bottom of the page. Instead it's appearing above your announcements, and because it's too wide to fit at the top, it's pushing everything down to below the right hand modules. It shouldn't be possible for the banner to appear above your Announcements but it clearly is. I'll have to have a programmer check this out Monday, hang tight.

Am confused (this is a frequently occurring theme for me lately!) I'm having the same issue when I put the CC banner in the content area. It pushes ALL my announcements down, leaving a huge white space at the top. I read the responses and can't figure out how to fix it. I've changed it back to on the right side for now. Thanks

The width of the CC Banner is 500 Pixels. The maximum width of the Home Page items is 420 if you want them to appear between the Right Side Modules. On the Edit Site Pages, Edit HOME PAGE, there is an option to have your announcements appear ABOVE "Your Content" or BELOW "Your Content" (using the Red/Green arrows). If you have "Your Content" above the announcements and you have something that is too wide, it will force the "Your Content" to be below the Right-Side-Modules beginning at the object that is too wide. Since you have a very small "Your Content", if you insert the 500 Pixel CC Banner image, it will force everything in "Your Content" beginning with the CC Banner down below the right-side-modules. The CC Banner image is always placed at the BOTTOM of the "Your Content" (notice no Red/Green arrows, just the words "Fixed"). If your "Your Content" was larger than the right-side-modules, the CC Banner wouldn't cause problems. If you moved the "Your Content" to below your announcements (use Red/Green arrows), you also wouldn't have a problem.
