Flash Slideshow/Audio won't play in Firefox

The Flickr slideshow and accompanying playlist audio that are located on http://www.stthomasaquinas74bdc.com/class_index.cfm will not NOT play in Firefox on Windows XP (tested on two different XP systems).

Slideshow will play in Firefox and Safari on my Mac. Slideshow will play in IE Explorer and Safari on two different Windows XP systems. Slideshow will NOT play in Windows Firefox 3.55 with Flash WIN 10,0,32,18 on two different Windows XP systems.

I have spent the last 4 hours troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstalling and testing to make sure I have the latest Flash plugins for Firefox. The Adobe Flash test page says that I do. Youtube works fine in Firefox. I have tested the slideshow on two different XP systems and Firefox Flash won't work on either on. But both Safari and IE Explorer will play the slideshow on both XP systems. I don't get a "missing plugin" alert or any alert at all.. I just see blank white space where the slideshow should be. If you click on the link to the external Flickr.com page for the slideshow, it works great. The slideshow just won't work within classcreator.com while using Firefox.

This leads me to conclude there is something weird about the way classcreator.com handles Flash plugins on Firefox for Windows XP.

Any help? Thanks very much.

Just a guess, but our system could be slightly altering your plugin code to help you space it correctly. Please try putting the code at the top of your source code that tells our system to not mess with your code. Instructions can be found in our FAQs, Questions About Maintaining Your Site, Question #19.

If that doesn't work please paste a copy of the ORIGINAL embed code here in this forum. I need to compare the saved code on your sire to the original to see what if anything was altered by our system.

Thanks Brad. The insert didn't seem to work.

Below are the original embed codes from Flickr.com and Playlist.com as you requested. I had made changes to the sizing (width and height) from this original flickr code and that may be what is gumming it up for Firefox although they work fine in Safari and IE Explorer. I don't have access to my Mac system right now but I'm pretty sure it worked fine on Mac Firefox.

The page you are talking about is really this one, not the home page

http://www.stthomasaquinas74bdc.com/class_custom6.cfm

Right?

All right, I took your original code for both plugins and added it to my test Your High School site. Result is here:

http://www.classcreator.com/Agate-CO-Agate-JrSr-2005/class_custom1.cfm

As you can see it works great in Firefox for Windows XP.

So I decided I'd try altering the sizes of the plugins next. I used ridiculous sizes just for test purposes to see if it would work. Result here:

http://www.classcreator.com/Agate-CO-Agate-JrSr-2005/class_custom2.cfm

Both pages worked great and I'm not using or anything outside of the ordinary. There are a lot of width and height tags in there that need to be changed, are you sure you're changing all of them consistently?

In any case, I'm not having any problems, so my only other guess is maybe the specific sizes you're using for some reason are the culprit, or possibly something else you have on the same page is conflicting. I really don't know, but it does appear both of these plugins work fine in Firefox.

By the way, hope you don't mind, but since your "Past Reunion Photos" page on your site was not being used for anything and was not active, I tried playing around with it. You can see it here:

http://www.stthomasaquinas74bdc.com/class_custom4.cfm

That's your content from the top of your page along with the original plugin code for both plugins. Works great.

You might want to copy all of the source code from this page and replace the code on your live page with it. Then try modifying the widths and heights, just make sure you do all of them, and do all of them consistently.

Brad - thanks so very much for your help and dedication (2:02 AM ?) Smile

Got it resolved... you're right, it was the custom sizing of 600 x 600 that was conflicting with Firefox. I copied over the original code back into the page as you suggested and then played around with the sizing. 500 x 600 seems to work in Firefox whereas the 600 x 600 did not; although that size configuration did work in the other browsers.

I was trying to go for the maximum visual impact with a large embedded slideshow. I wasn't satisfied with the default 400 x 500 sizing that the original embed code gave you.

In any case, now I know the 500 x 600 will work fine all three browsers! Now, to test on Chrome and Bing. Smile

Thanks again for your help.

Smile
