Is there a way for the administrator to set up a profile for a classmate who doesn't have email? He has given me his address and phone number, and he would like our classmates to see his contact information. He lives in a rural area and does not have internet access.
Thanks,
Sallie

Yes. Just click on the JOIN NOW for the classmate and join as if you are that classmate. For his e-mail address, just enter something fake, like "JohnDoe1963@aol.com". Enter anything you want for the password because nobody will be logging in as the classmate.

It is probably a good idea to put YOUR e-mail address into the classmate's SECONDARY profile. This way if someone tries to contact the classmate, you can reply to the sender and say that the classmate doesn't have e-mail.

So, they would not get mail in their mailbox because there is no email at this site?

How do they get information?

There could not email to the other students within the site?

Our website would not seek us out if someone would assume that I would be norma@AHS69.com ??

Could (we) classmembers leave a note on the Classmate with no email's profile and he read it if he signed in under that his profile with the bogus email?

Which brings up a question on some of the bounce backs. How do they still get in their profile if their email is no longer good? Or am I misunderstanding the bouncebacks?

(ask questions if this is as clear as MUD!)

THANK YOU,
Norma

Norma,

I am not sure if some of your questions are relevant. This topic is about "Entering classmate information for a classmate who doesn't have internet access." Since they don't have Internet access, they don't have an e-mail account. They would NEVER be logging into their account.

If they ever did get Internet/E-mail they could contact the admin with the CONTACT US button and find out how to sign in (admin could give username and reset the password, then the classmate would use that e-mail address to sign in and change their e-mail address).

At that time (IF they ever got an e-mail address), they could sign in and see any messages that they have received in their internal mail box (not an e-mail account, just a storage area).

"Bouncebacks" mean that the e-mail account cannot be found at the e-mail server (aol.com, gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc.). Maybe the classmate who typed it in originally typed it wrong or they have since closed that e-mail account. A Bounceback message is also sent if the mailbox is full, so it can't accept any more messages.

Classmates with BOUNCEBACKS can still login because the e-mail address that they typed (even though it can't receive e-mail) is still a valid USERNAME until they change their primary e-mail address.

Hope this answers all your questions.
