On my class site, is it possible to merge the old message forum into the new more functional multi topic one?

As a work around I have linked to the old forum by creating it as a topic in the new forums but it takes several clicks to get through to the right place.

Most classes that have both forums are linking one to the other the way you have. We don't have a merge option - the formats are not the same so copying and pasting really isn't recommended. The way you are doing it now is the best way to keep the formatting of the original content.

Please tell me how you linked the old message forum to the new one!!! I can't figure it out!!!

They were clicking on the new forum and then copying the link in the address bar of their browser and then pasting that as the last message in their old forums to let users know the discussion can be continued in the new location.
