Our CC website is not secure, and that becomes problematic to many security minded classmates. Then there's the possibility of hackers gaining access to classmates' personal date via a non-secured website.

When will CC be securing its servers and in turn our class websites?

That is really up to you (with I think some help from CC if you get one).

CC DOES have a SSL certificate, but it is for classcreator.com, not your domain name. IOW, all important transactions such as logging in or payment are done via a secure layer. You'll see the URL change in the browser to https://www.classcreater.com/...yourwebsite..

The rest of the time, having SSL does nothing for your site. I almost think it's a plan to make money - lol

It really is a poor BROAD BRUSH solution that really makes no sense for most amateur domains. For example, I have a game website where there are no logins, no transactions. Just information for fun. What the heck would SSL do for me and my users? NOTHING.,
Here's an overview of SSL

Here's a FREE one you can get. CC would need to tell us how they would incorporate it with our domains. Last time I used one was a long time ago for payment processing.

I volunteer to be a guinea pig for CC using the "FREE" one to see how easy it is. Very Happy

CC is NOT SECURED, nor are any of the CC Classmates websites/pages. The URL does not automatically switch to https.

You only see the https designator when the website is secured by an SSL certificate, and even then only if the website owner (CC) has attached the certificate to the website on their server(s) and the site(s) is/are redirected to a secure URL (https).

Next to the URL address bar (in Firefox) is a boxed icon. When you click on it, a popup tells you if the website you're viewing is secure or not. Not to mention the green lock icon (Firefox, Chrome) that is displayed for every SSL protected website. Safari encloses the website name in a green box with the lock icon next to the name.

Again, CC IS NOT A SECURE WEBSITE.

I think there is a misunderstanding my explanation.

Look very carefully at the TOP of your browser when you log in. This is OUR site but yours will be similar

Quote:

https://www.classcreator.com/Bothell-WA-Bothell-Senior-1961/class_custom.cfm?page_id=245799&restricted=page

and this is YOUR login URL

Quote:
https://www.classcreator.com/St-Petersburg-FL-Northeast-1965/member_login.cfm

If you go to a PAYMENT page the same thing happens. It becomes HTTPS.

IOW, classcreator.com IS secure. YOUR domain nehi1965.com is NOT. There's a difference. I gave links explaining. If you want to be secure, then it's up to you to get a certificate. It's free from the one site I gave.

If you get an SSL certificate for YOUR domain, it will become secure. That will affect all the pages that are not. Not that it really does anything for you. It's really meant to secure money and passwords. And those are covered.
