You can use a table and if you want it in columns, create a two column table. Create the table with how many rows (lines of data) you want. I don't know if there is an easy to paste the information into table format, so you probably need to just select each classmate and drag/drop them into each cell of the table.

If you want them to appear as a list rather than a paragraph you can hold down the key and hit at the same time to create as single spaced list. If you just hit enter after each name it adds a new paragraph which looks like double spacing.
