Is there a way to allow classmates to scroll through profile pages rather than going back to the "Classmate Profiles" list and selecting the next name? Something like a "Next" button. That would be a great time saver for a new user, or for someone who just wanted to see them all again.

No there isn't. We debated this issue once before here and the problem is that all Classmates don't have Profiles. Some are missing. And some are deceased. The system is set up so you can easily invite Missing Classmates, you can add comments about Classmates who are deceased, etc. If we put little next arrows on the Profiles what happens if the next person is a Missing Classmate? Do we just skip that person completely? If we do, do we explain why we're skipping somebody? If we skip them we've also lost the opportunity for somebody who might know where they are to quickly send them an auto invite to the site.

What if the Classmate is deceased? Do we skip them too, or do we take them to the deceased section of the web site where the In Memory entry is? And if we choose to do that, do we also put a little arrow on the bottom of the In Memory entry that then takes the reader back to the next name back in the Classmate Profile section? It starts to get pretty convoluted.

These are some of the issues that surfaced before. In the end it was decided it's really not too hard to just click the browser's back button and click on the next name you want to read. The icon system is there to give the viewer an indication of where content is found.

If all Classmates existed in only one area of the system and all of them had Profiles, it'd be a great idea though.

What if you put the "Next" button in the sub-set of Classmate Profiles where you look at only those who are active participants? It just seems like this would be a really valuable feature to have.

The only real issue there is although you can, nearly nobody filters the list like that. In fact only 3% of the time that page is loaded is it loaded to filter any names. Most people just load the whole class list. Thus 97% of people would never see the arrows. I'll bring this up at our next meeting. If we do something like this wouldn't it make the most sense to put it on the most recent Profile update filter? I'd think it would be most value to step through Profiles from most recently updated to the oldest updated.
