Since I found out I can actually do a single year site thanks to CC's easy steps....
Does anyone have advice on what makes a multiyear site successful? What items do you all put on the site to get everyone interested? How many multiple years work best? (Specific years set vs a certain period).

I do know that it will probably take a little bit of extra work but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Thanks

I have 4 multi year sites

http://www.lchstnalumni.com
http://www.ridgelytnalumni.com
http://www.tiptonvilletnalumni.com
http://www.lincolntnalumni.com

Some of them span as much as 64 years. It has been a great success and membership has been great. Our newly formed alumni association has been very supportive. We have many projects in the works and planning an Alumni Awards Banquet in 2 weeks with 650 attending.

Good luck.

Our All-Years website spans the dates the school had graduating students from 1907-2009 (102 years). We have alumni that are in their 90's!

You might want to take a look at it to see what we have done to get some ideas.

For 10 years they have had an annual alumni picnic in the main park in town. When the website went up it increased the picnic participation and the alumni association memberships have started to increase.

Our alumni association records director is one of the Administrators which helps a lot. She has been able to upload the membership databases for all of the class years on record. That's over 20,000 classmates.

We have another person who researches and updates the "In Memory" section. She has a genealogy background and is great at finding obituaries and public records to document those that have passed on.

If they are not, you should really consider having your Alumni Association be involved in helping with many of the aspects of the site to make it successful.

I started out with a private class site August of 2008 and then one for my wife's class just this January 2009.

I decided my goals for the high school would be better served if I merged my efforts with the Alumni Association. When I presented the opportunity of not just private sites and expanding it to the entire school, they got excited and voted me and my wife to be on the Board of Directors.

There are two of us that administrate the All-Years website. So far since January we have had over 1700 alumni register and every day more and more join.

Wow Bruce! I'm really impressed with your multi-year site. Especially the class years grid with links to the site/page embedded. I also love what you have done with the "Contact Us" page. Very nice!

Thanks for sharing!
