I'm the root administrator of our website; there are no other administrators. We had a new classmate sign up and enter a profile, but I notice that in the Classmates list which only admins can see, the new classmate is listed in the Delete column as Admin. (Every other classmate, other than me, has a Delete link in that column.) Additionally, under the Edit column, which has two subcolumns for Details and Profiles, the new classmate has the word Root appearing (without a link). Also, in my admin's Preferences page, the new classmate's name appears as the signer of the Welcome Message (though that message is not active). I'm not really sure what's going on here.
